It’s Friday night and you’re ready to start the weekend after a long work week. Okay, let’s face it… all you really want to do is belly flop on your bed and watch your favorite Netflix show (or YouTube videos – pick your distraction), while cramming snacks in your mouth.

No? Just me?

Okay. Well, anyway…

Here are three things you can do to live life, seize the day, and make memories on a Friday night… all within Balboa Park:

1. Play Unlimited Video Games

Okay, maybe not unlimited, but pretty close to it – this summer, play over 100 videos games at the Fleet, with no quarters necessary! During Balboa Park After Dark, the gaming goes until 10:00 pm on Fridays! If you have an Explorer Annual Pass, the deal gets sweeter – you get free general admission! That means all you have to do is scan your Explorer Annual Pass and you get to play video games from Mario to Minecraft.

2. Catch a Breath-taking Sunset

Watch the sun go down as you overlook the Pacific Ocean, the mountains, the San Diego Bay, downtown, and more. Schedule a tour of the California Tower, inspire your tastebuds at the BEERology exhibit inside the Museum of Man, then head over to Panama 66 for a local craft beer. General admission prices at the Museum of Man vary, however, if you have an Explorer Annual Pass, your general admission price is constant – $0.

3. Walk Through a Scenic Garden

Start your weekend with a relaxing walk through the Japanese Friendship Garden. Pause and enjoy the serene koi ponds, after taking in the sukiya inspired architecture. Explorer Annual Passholders can get straight to the relaxation with no general admission fee.

This Friday, ditch the urge to spend your night scrolling down your Facebook feed. Get out there and live life! Meet new people as you play video games at the Fleet, take Instagram-worthy sunset pictures during the California Tower tour, or unplug from it all as you walk through the Japanese Friendship Garden. Grab your Explorer Annual Pass, head over to Balboa Park, and explore.
