Handmade by local artists Florence Hord and Elizabeth Schlappi, each of these bejeweled ornaments is thoughtfully decorated with precious gems, stones, and filigree to reflect the beauty of the holidays. For the month of December, Timken will once again be displaying these popular ornaments – often compared to Faberge eggs – for its second year in the museum’s rotunda. Feel free to pop in to the Timken to enjoy the artfully festive atmosphere these pieces create!
Riding into the Holidays at San Diego Model Railroad Museum

Museum Seasonal Events This Week:
Complete with dynamic reading and interactivity, The Nat offers a featured storytime event every second Thursday of the month covering a variety of nature-loving topics! Recommended for ages 1 through 5, this special storytelling of the season gives little attendees an imaginative and educational journey into the world of winter animals.
Dig out that hideous reindeer sweater you bought for last year’s office holiday party, grab your ID, and head to Model Railroad Museum’s annual Ales N Rails Ugly Holiday Sweater Party! We’re celebrating the season with local craft beers, an eagle-eyed scavenger hunt, and merrymaking music. Be sure to grab your advance tickets by December 14th!
If you’re not too keen on drinks but would love to have the little ones explore Model Railroad Museum’s seasonal display, look no further than Polar Express Family Day! This kid-friendly event will offer a cozy screening of Polar Express, hands-on make-and-take craft-making, and maybe even a surprise visit from a special friend of the museum!
