Looking for ways to keep the kids curious, creative, and happily busy this month? The museums across the Balboa Park Cultural District are packed with hands-on activities, performances, and family-friendly experiences designed to spark imagination at every age. From live animal interactions and story times to art workshops and science explorations, there’s something for everyone!

Whether your crew is into art projects, up-close encounters with nature, or high-energy STEM fun, June is the perfect time to explore it all. These special events are hosted by museums throughout the Balboa Park Cultural District, and many are included with the Balboa Park Explorer Pass, which makes it easier than ever to drop in, try something new, and create lasting family memories.

Living Lab

San Diego Natural History Museum

Meet more than 20 of your not-so-cuddly neighbors, from stinging scorpions to elusive nocturnal lizards. On select dates, visitors will be able to interact with an animal care specialist inside the gallery. This may include animal feedings, a close-up look at the animals on display.

Toy Train Gallery

San Diego Model Railroad Museum

This fantasy O Scale layout brings childhood nostalgia to life, complete with a "Choo-Choo Cam" that lets visitors experience the layout from a train’s perspective. Ranked as one of the Top 10 layouts by Classic Toy Trains magazine, this exhibit is a treat for train lovers of all ages.

Fleet Science Center

Kid City is the perfect place for children aged five and under to learn and develop in a fun and engaging environment. Our play areas and activities include the Ball Wall, Air Blower, Little Learners Lab, Fire Truck and Supermarket play area.

Ripley’s Believe It or Not
